Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester Visits Tharros Village

Tharros Village was honored to welcome U.S. Sen. Lisa Blunt Rochester for a recent visit to our village in Lewes.

During her visit, Sen. Blunt Rochester had the opportunity to learn more about Tharros Village, Delaware’s first self-governed transitional village for individuals experiencing homelessness, and the supportive services that help our guests move toward stability and permanent housing.

Following her visit, the senator shared Tharros Village with readers of her newsletter:

“In the spirit of increasing housing supply, I visited Tharros Village in Lewes. Tharros Village is Delaware’s first self-governed, transitional village for individuals experiencing homelessness. This seasonal shelter provides residents with supportive services as they transition towards permanent housing. We still have work to do to ensure everyone can access affordable housing, but I’m grateful for the Delawareans who have developed innovative solutions that support our neighbors along the way,” Blunt Rochester said.

We are grateful to Sen. Blunt Rochester for taking the time to visit, listen and learn about the work happening at Tharros Village.

Visits like this help shine a light on what is possible when a community comes together to provide not simply shelter, but support, dignity and a pathway forward.
